Top Pick in Nation Wide
Search for Silver Herdsire
We have always been extremely pleased
with the offspring of our homebred senior herdsire, silver Fantasy's Gremlin
(White Cloud X Petite Shenanigans). However, we
considered it the ultimate complement when Bob Hebeler selected the silver Gremlin son
Fantasy's Treasure as herdsire for his Acorn Alpaca Ranch in Millis, Massachusetts. Mr.
Hebeler was very serious about obtaining the very best gray male available and
employed Eric Hoffman, noted alpaca authority and screener of the vast majority of
alpacas imported into North America, to conduct a nation wide search. Eric
reviewed the offerings of many alpaca farms before narrowing the search to
the three with the most promising gray males. Fantasy Farms was not
number one on this list until Bob and Eric arrived for their hands on inspection.
Their visit was not long; the choice was easy. Fantasy's Treasure was the
number one gray male, the one that would shortly become the Hebeler's new
silver herdsire.
Treasure stood proudly showing of his perfect form, abundant silver
fiber and classic head when Bob and Eric visited, but that was only to be
expected. Treasure was born with perfectly straight legs and was head to
toe wonderfully wooly from the minute that he that he was dry. Growing up,
Treasure went from an almost "too cute" cria to a "look at me" young macho
at two years of age. We sincerely hope that Treas will pass on his color
and superior qualities to his future offspring at Acorn Alpaca Ranch. His
first offspring, however, will be born right here at Fantasy Farms in Central Oregon. Two of our proven ladies were bred to Treasure to
establish his fertility before he left for New England. Fantasy's Buffy will
be the proud mother of Treasure's first cria later this summer.
Treasure is not the only young, gray male from Fantasy Farms
selected for stud duties elsewhere. His best buddy, Fantasy's Promise (Fantasy's
Gremlin X Fantasy's Charm), was selected as a silver herdsire by Laurel Ridge
Alpacas of Oregon City, OR. Very recently the light rose gray Fantasy's
Troubadour sired by Gremlin's half brother, Fantasy's Eternal Trouble, was
chosen by long time alpaca breeders Jim and Diana Taylor of Sisters, OR, to
add some more color to their herd.
If you are also searching for a top young gray male, we might have
just that fellow. There are six handsome gray Gremlin sons from weanlings
to four years of age all described and pictured on our male
alpacas for sale
page. Among the youngest, but not the least, is Treasure's full baby brother,
Fantasy's Gem. Gem is an absolutely adorable weanling totally covered with
light rose gray fiber. Not as large as Treasure, Gem favors his sire in
being more compact and sturdy.
Are there gray Gremlin daughters? Yes, but these young beauties
have all left Fantasy Farms for new homes across the country. The last,
Fantasy's Silver Charm, left shortly after she was weaned this spring. We
hope to have a couple of wooly gray Gremlin daughters later this summer, but
for now, our only available Gremlin gals are a black and a couple of deep
browns that can be found on our female
alpacas for sale page where you
will also see several ladies that are pregnant to Gremlin.
